Welcome to the
beautiful Fraser Island National Park, situated on the South East Coast of
Queensland, Australia.
Fraser
Island offers many tours leaving from various locations
up and down the Queensland coast. Rainbow Beach,
Noosa, Maryborough, Tin Can Bay and Hervey Bay all offer
various types of tours that allow you to
explore different amounts of the island
depending on how long your tour takes.
Day tours offer only the highlights of
what's available on Fraser island, while a 3
or 5 day tour would provide the opportunity for you to
get to know different parts of the island quite well.

The spectacular
views of the stunning lakes on Fraser Island are must see destinations.
The crystal clear freshwater lakes are sometimes stained with vegetation
floating down and gathering at the bottom of the lake; Tea Tree lake as its name
suggests is stained brown of the Tea Tree leaves in its water. Many lakes
are situated at different locations around the island, some being McKenzie,
Boomanjin, Wabby, Birrabeen, Allom and Bowarrady. All are wonderful sights
to see, however, some are only accessible by foot i.e. Lake Bowarrady. All
lakes on the island are completely natural, and most are perched lakes (formed
by water catchments in the sand dunes).

Situated 3.5 hours from Brisbane by
car, and just 1.5 by plane, Fraser Island is centrally located providing a
convenient yet exquisite holiday destination, yet supremely untouched by the
hand of civil humanity.
Fraser Island and Hervey Bay are
also home to the playground of the Humpback Whales migrating between
destinations during the period between August and November each year.
Imagine watching the fifth largest family of whales, in the world, playing in
the warm, calm waters of Hervey Bay. Famous as the whale watching capital
of the world, Hervey Bay offers you the opportunity to view these amazing
creatures from close range aboard one of our Whale Watching vessels. They
are very curious animals, and they often approach vessels in a manner which
exhibits caution and gentleness.

A up to 15 metres long and 45
tonnes in weight, the Humpback whales are playful, very powerful, but often they
are the most gentle creatures of the ocean. When on their 5 month
migration, whales do not stop to feed, however when they are feeding (down in
Antarctica), they will feed on Krill, a form of microscopic organism, and eat up
to 1500 kilograms of it every day.
Migrating
between the Great Barrier Reef and Antarctica, Hervey Bay is the place where the
whales stop to feed and rest for up to 5 days at a time with their young.
The World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Park acts as a birthing
ground for the whales. Whales migrate simply because their young don't
have the layer of fat "Blubber" insulating them from the cold of the water of
the Antarctic. The waters of Hervey Bay provide a safe place for their
young, safe from schools of sharks and killer whales.
